COSTS OF SINGLE PARTY RULE
The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) has been chastised by State auditors for insider dealing on a program created to assist needy veterans and their families. The program, the Military Family Relief Fund (MFRF), was created to assist needy veterans and families with emergency grants to help them meet expenses related to the veterans deployment or prior service. It came out of the super majority Republican legislature, in what in retrospect appears to have been an unregulated slush fund that benefitted IDVA employees more than any “needy” veterans or their families. It also afforded legislators and State officials a handy, safe place to strut their “love” for veterans by deflecting their pay during the recent special legislative session to the MFRF.
As veterans, we are insulted at this duplicitousness and using veterans as proxies for a corrupt, clandestine scheme to exploit veterans and enrich unsupervised bureaucrats. If you, too are outraged at this irresponsible exploitation of veterans, consider joining Veterans For Peace and work with us to unmask and prevent these shenanigans.
