Touch of Grey covers rock hits from the 60s at the Deerhead in Evansville, Indiana, on Septebmer 21, 2019—International Peace Day. The event raised awareness for peace and funds to help support the Veterans For Peace Chapter 104 Peace Scholarship.
International Peace Day Observance — September 21, 2019 — Four Freedoms Monument — Evansville, Indiana
Members of Veterans For Peace in Evansville gathered today, the International Day of Peace, to honor humanity’s quest for peace—and to share a statement on “Climate Action for Peace” that sees an end to militarism as essential to a sustainable future. (Read the statement.)
Local member Larry Miller presented a viable young linden, a start from the original International World War Peace Tree in northern Vanderburgh County. Miller and VFP 104 are gifting the planting to the City of Evansville as a gesture of good will, symbolizing the belief that peace is possible when rooted in non-violence, justice, and respect for all people. “We believe that peace at home is fundamental to peace abroad,” says Bart Lindenschmidt, president of the Evansville VFP. “We think the people of Evansville aspire to a peaceful community, and we share and support that desire as a fundamental need of people everywhere.”
