SMEDLEY BUTLER'S CLASSIC, _WAR IS A RACKET_ IN AUDIO FORMAT

Virtually all VFP members are aware of Smedley Butler’s famous assertion, “War is a racket”. Butler’s prescient insights about war and exploitation were memorialized in his book of the same title in 1935. It is now free to download in a variety of audio formats, read by John Greenman. Here’s a snippet of Butler’s views on American Corporate Imperialism that war and military service sustain.

“Army Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler's expose of American Corporate Imperialism. Butler said, “I served in all commissioned ranks from second lieutenant to Major General. And during that period I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street, and for the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism. I suspected I was just part of the racket all the time. Now I am sure of it.” - Summary by John Greenman.”
