“NO KINGS” PROTEST IN EVANSVILLE JOINS NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST AUTHORITARIANISM
Evansville - As part of a national day of protest happening in over 1,500 cities across the U.S., Evansville residents will gather on Saturday, June 14, for a NO KINGS event to reject authoritarianism, defend democracy, and counter President Trump’s planned military parade in Washington, D.C.
The NO KINGS mobilization, organized by a coalition of over 100 pro-democracy and pro-worker groups, is a direct response to the Trump administration’s escalating attacks on civil rights, rule of law, and democratic norms. With millions expected to participate nationwide, this event will uplift local voices and show that the American people refuse to be ruled by kings.
WHEN: 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14
WHERE: Winfield K. Denton Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, 101 NW Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Evansville, IN 47708
WHO: The event is being organized by Indivisible Evansville with Evansville Resistance.
Speakers will offer attendees ways to take action and include:
Felicia Eaves, social justice strategist
Edith Hardcastle, Vanderburgh County Democratic Party
James MacLeod, historian
Devonika Montgomery, Social rEvolution LLC
Dr. Thomas Stratton, family physician
Local advocate for a City Council Gender-Affirming Care Resolution
Additional community leaders and activists
WHY: President Trump’s taxpayer-funded Flag Day military parade is a dangerous spectacle meant to project power, not patriotism. At a time when millions face rising costs, cuts to essential services, and threats to civil liberties, this display is a slap in the face to working Americans. The NO KINGS protest will show that true power lies with the people—and we’re not backing down.
This peaceful demonstration will stand in solidarity with Pride celebrations, Veterans’ events, and upcoming Juneteenth commemorations. It’s time to say it loud: America has no kings.
